I have been a co-author of a book chapter on instrumented lumbosacral fusion and have published 27 papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals. There have been over 601 citations of these publications in peer-reviewed journals up to 28 May 2018. I have also given 34 presentations in scientific spinal meetings.
 
Since December 2012, I have submitted all my private and NHS major spinal surgical cases to the British Spine Registry. This allows auditing of my surgical practice and the outcome of surgical procedures. In addition, collecting information about spinal surgery across the UK can help to find out which spinal operations are most effective and in which patients they work best. This will hopefully improve patient care in the future. The Registry allows patient outcome to be assessed using questionnaires answered by the patient. These will allow me, as well as other spinal surgeon members of the British Association of Spinal Surgeons, to see how much improvement there has been from treatment.
